I've been doing my research on some fish I may want to add to an tank I'm looking at a on craigslist, when I came across the fish called the Dragon Goby. And wouldn't you know it, it looks really awesome. However, a lot of people say you have to put it in brackish water for it to be happy. Other people don't. What is your guys opinion on the matter?

Probably like the freshwater lion fish I have. People keep them in both. Ask the owner how they are keeping it now and how much salt they have in the tank if any. I always add a little salt to my tanks and keep all types of cichlids. My new lion fish is doing well in the tank.

If you want it to be happy and live a long life, it needs brackish water. Also, make sure you use marine salt and not aquarium salt.

Theres always be the issue here that even though it might live and survive in fw it wont thrive. by thrive i mean behave normal, and be a normal specimen. it will mope and lay ther might not have the same appetite and dragon gobies even breed well in brackish water.

Just curious - I've heard here that some fish can be acclimated to full salt if they are started in brine. Is this one of those fish or will it mope around no matter what?
