If you have/had a violet dragon, please give advice on what to decorate my dragons new 40 gal. tank with. In your exp. or opinion what do they like best in their home besides sand? : Store bought caves? PVC pipes?Other ideas?... And do they like floating plants on top of the water? (If I can find one that grows in brackish water.) Do they 'like' or 'need' other fish in their home? TIA :D I'm moving her tomarrow from a 21 gal. My dragon's very nocturnal. ;) I make the room dark and turn on a small 'nite lite' on top of her tank at feeding time. After that she 'plays'! She rearranges the sand, making new shallows and mounds. This goes on for 1/2 hr or so. Very entertaining. So please, if you have a few more minutes, give me some decorating advice. *If you have some 'dragon knowledge', or want to tell of a 'personality' or 'quirk' your dragon has/had it would be nice of you to share that too! :D

my setup is far from ideal but ignoring that for the moment, the goby does use a pvc pipe now and then.

as for quirks; sometimes it swims up to the top, in the corner, poking it's head out of the water a bit, then drifts back down a few inches, then goes back up and back down and up and down... it'll do that for about 5 - 10 minutes

I leaned a rock right infront of the glass to make a side cave so I could always view him, the I later got a clear PVC pipe, he loves them both. As for plants, he doesn't ever acknowledge them.

Mine is in a 20 gallon tank with 3 tiny bumblebee gobies and they all seem to be freinds and hang out. I would try to set up a long cave so he can fit his whole body in with just his head sticking out. They're good at backing up in to stuff so he'll figure it out.

These fish seem like they want to be near the surface but with something solid under them at the same time. A cool idea would be to have some kind of shelf or ledge that they could rest on but they were still near the surface.

To Scatman, NatashaAliza,Industrial, and spitz006=Thanks very much for your replies. :) NatashaAliza: where to get the clear pvc tubing from?, from the lfs or from a place like 'home depot' or hardware store? spitz006: I don't have any of her hiding places near the top. The first week I had soft plastic plants in there. She was 'resting' on them. My cats (16 to 18# each), went thundering past, startled her. She smacked her body against the tank top! So I don't think I'll be putting a ledge or anything else close to the top. Unless I want to see if she can fly!:nilly::ROFL:
