Hello I'm new! I am currently setting up my 55 gal, with a Eheim 90 gal Classic Canister filter, and Carbisea Sand substrate for my Brackish fish who are looking a bit too big for my taller 40 gal. There is a tower of terracotta pots, tons of plastic/silk plants, a submerged cave made large enough for the goby(the cave is hidden in the sand), and soon to be PVC piping logs. The SG is 1.005 and I am wanting to add a Dragon Goby (Dragon Eel, Violet Goby, Dragonfish etcetera). I am getting a lot controversy if this tank size is adequate enough for a full grown. I also want to know if they would be OK with bumblebee gobies or if they would end up accidently swallowing them.

Had one that got to around 14 inches before I got rid of it. Mostly wanted very small food like brine shrimp but would eat pieces of fish or market shrimp if I cut it up small enough. Lived with some GSP with no problem and with Mollies before that who would breed often and never saw him go after any of them.

Puffers other than pea puffers are not a good mix with the almost blind and rather slow dragons...my goby lost alot of finage before I installed the divider in my 50G ...

A 55 should be more than enough for your Dragon, these guys grow slow and filter feed. they max out at like 18" right? (unverified no flames plz) but I think that would take several years and they still don't swim much.

Mine will take tilapia filet pieces and chew on it like gum for HOURS! Like shrimp and tiny granules that it will sift your substrate to get to. Warning They are diggers!

For tankmates, Mollies are cool, so are guppies (beware of bunny like behavior with these...) bumblebee gobies should also be cool I would have to assume.
