Dragonscale betta

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Bred bettas for quite a few years myself, worked mostly with pure colour halfmoon plakat strains like: Super reds/Blood reds, Super blues/Blue dragons, Platinum whites, Silvers/Coppers, and 24k Golds.
Looking for to this breeding log :)
Good luck!

I'll be drawing upon your experience! :)

Female has been removed, male was chasing her away; so I'm keeping the lights on to help him catch any falling eggs, only difficult thing is, I'm breeding them in a plastic container, so it's not easy to spot when the eggs hatch, here's hoping though

eggs have hatched :) doesn't look like a lot of fry, but that may be due to first time spawning for both the male and female

Congrats! Breeding them is not hard, hard part is feeding the fry and keeping the water clean. Feed powered first bites first and the newly hatched baby brine shrimp. GL

Good luck with the fry. That Betta is a beauty, so it would be nice to see the fry turn out the same way.

I've got brine shrimp and microworms, and spirulina; so looking to start on the microworms first. I'm actually trying a method if heard about, involving keeping the male in the tank; might fail, but its all a learning process :)

Thanks, the female has similar colours on her fins, so I'd hope to see similar variations on colour :D I don't know if this will be a successful spawn, as there are a lot of factors I should have considered earlier in regards to the bubble nest (no tank cover for humidity, first time spawn for male etc), but I have the female set-up in her own tank, so its no issue for me to re-introduce them in a few weeks if necessary

awesome man, i want to try breeding bettas one day. the male looks awesome, did you find him at your LFS? cause most of the bettas here are tiny or crummy colours but i found a black one with brown fins and thought he looked cool and now he is partially blue with half blue fins. good luck on the fry

Petco too. I'm really surprised, but I can't get any. My Betta still has another 3-4 years on him.
