I'm looking to plumb a 2" pvc line that will run from my sump to my basement floor drain. This line will serve two purposes.

#1. I'll be adding in a a tee so that I can insert a drain hose when doing water changes. This will allow the water to flow through straight to the floor drain.

#2. This is my main question. This line is plumbed into my sump to serve as an overflow for an auto drip system. I want to add a check valve in this line, but will the trickling water draining through the line (from just the overflow water due to drip, not from a large water change) be able to flow past the check valve? Or will there not be enough pressure to get past the valve?

Sorry if this is a n00b question..

Are you expecting back flow from the drain?

Not necessarily expecting it...

However, that drain has backed up twice in the 6 years I've lived in this house due to root growth. Not a ton of backup, but I'd rather the backup goes onto the unfinished basement floor than into my sump.
