Well this Saturday 24th Nov

Me and Stotty visited Drayton Reservoir

and considering how cold it was and how frosty it was

i didn't do too bad, i caught 4 good fish and lost 3

i had a 12lber, 14lber, 15.5lber and a new PB of 16lb

bait i was using were 10mm pineapple boilies they are a killa bait at drayton hair rigged on a size 10 hook it took about 2 or 3 hours to locate the fish but as soon as we found them we had a ball with them

here's some pictures

stotty had one hell of a challenge

he worked VERY HARD he was chasing a 20lb pike but from the infomation which was provided by the Bailiff the pike fishing wasn't very good for some unknown reason, there had been a pike match recently which didn't turn out too well either so in all the pike fishing wasn't very good.

but stotty had a pike but lost it, so he decided to keep one rod on the pike rig and the other on carp he also had a carp but the hook pulled away from it and the result was .... NO FISH ... unlucky paul mate better luck next time we've got 2 trips planned next year to drayton so any budding carp angler who would like to join us at drayton is more than welcome

the lake was stocked with 4000 mirror carp of all sizes the lake produced it's first 40lb carp in 2004 the average fish pulled out is 14 to 20lb so theres always the chance of a new personal best there, were hitting the venue next summer when it will be a little more busier and then we'll be doing our anual winter visit in november

When you go fishing in the UK, do you have to pay to use the lakes? Have you ever come over to the US for a little fishing?

Most anglers in the UK who have retired from work and have a little money spare suddenly realized that there was a lot of money to be made in carp angling, so what they did was they bought up some lakes, ponds and reservoirs and invested lots of money into looking after the fish growing them up and even buying quality strains of carp

so if there going to invest in all this money it's only obvious that they would like a little in return, don't get me wrong there are some venues where you don't have to pay but what they charge you isn't a great deal mainly to cover the costs per year and a little bit of profit, but there are some fisheries which are expensive and do hold some monsters i think the national average price on a fisheries is between £5 and £10 for 2 rods there are some such as furnace mill fisheries where you have to book almost a year in advance and pay £25
