Hey all, so I have a question. Can camalanus survive in a tank with no fish other than a banjo catfish? I don't believe the cat can even get the worm, and the only other inhabitants will be some dwarf frogs and shrimp. There has been a small group of guppy-endlers in there for over a year, they have had (on-and-off) the worm the whole time (their fore-fathers had it, etc). I've long since given up trying to treat it, the new guppy colony is kept in a bigger tank and well away from them.
Plan: Do away with the infected once and for all and start using the frog tank for healthy guppies.
Can I achieve this by merely removing the gup-endlers for a longer period of time than the worms are supposed to be able to live outside a host? The infected can go to the crayfish for all I care after the stress they caused me. (Though notably they don't seem too affected by the worm, and I havent seen any for months. Been there done that though...)
Opinions?
