just a few cruddy pics of my red belly piranha shoal.

Incredibly i found this piece of driftwood which was previously roots to a giant tree growing in the river, it weighs 25.3lbs and is 46" long and 28" tall, it actually sticks out of the top of my tank, it has many swirls and tangles in the wood making a million hiding places.

the last pic was my tank before and the first ones are after. hopefully you like! was shooting for blackwater and water is VERY dark and very hard to take pics!

The tree was cut down about 10 or so years ago and this piece was burried about 2ft. What a find

Wow,nice I assumed you bought it when I first saw the pic. Don't come across that too often.

that's a nice piece, good find man. how did you treat it before you add it to your tank?

Yea i lucked out. Whenever i go on hikes and what not i always keep an eye out. Kinda stinks that it doesnt fit in my tank completly i guess if i find another one ill just sell this one.

When i got it i brought it home and hosed it off for 20 min, then i filled a wheelbarrow up with pots full of boiling water, i let soak on both sides for an hour each then i let dry and put it back in warm water, then i took out and let dry for a week and put it in my tank. Pretty simple but luckily the wood was so heavy that it isnt very porous. When it was dry and not in the tank it looked sweet as a decoration in my house but i knew my fish would appreciate it more.

Thanks alot, i always saw jaw dropping DW on here and im happy i finally scored!

And since its tech an upside down giant root thats cut smooth and flush on the bottom it makes an effect of a bonsai(spelling?) tree or something growing from the substrate. It pretty sweet, ill use my good camera and get better pics soon. And ill keep looking for better pieces!

what a beautiful piece of decor! i did the same thing and found my own, boiled it, and has provided me with a custom feel. nice work!!

Yea, if your DW comes up missing, it WASN'T me! -innocent- lol looks great.
