bellevue, ne
so to start this drawing is by no means to scale and the lengths and proportion are obviously incorrect. that being said i believe the idea of the style of tank i am trying to achieve is obvious and i was hoping to gain some insight into what you the knowledgeable members of mfk thought about the design.

is it possible to make being that it would be 24"+ tall 40"ish wide and of a good length

what would be the best materials cinder block, cement, wood, glass, other

is it possible to do for under 6000 or under 10000 dollars

the focus of this tank would be knife fish and arowana. i love the way they swim and i never see tanks that truly are able to feature this aspect of the fish

I've seen a similar set up before but unfortunatly it was a long time ago and I never took any pictures. It was basicly a 3 1/2 foot tall stone and concreat pond in the same corner configuration with several 1/2" thick 4' long by 2' high glass pannels set between stone collums. This was obviously a built in perminate aquarium but I dont see any reason why it couldn't be duplicated for well under 10 grand.

very possible...

not sure it is the best or wisest way - but they got tanks like that in china (in lfs stores) made out of just glass.......

basically 2-4 tanks siliconed together......

Look on the 'New 24foot tank" thread. Has the same design. Just on a larger scale. Its very possible, but I'd eaither use plywood for everything, but just acrylic indows on the viewing areas. And the sides.

hrm... that would be interesting.

In this case you might want to go with form following function instead of function following form...Yes, its a fish tank. But what fish will you be putting in their and how many gallons will the tank trully be? The shape also may cause some filtering problems...Let me know if i can draw it out for you the way it should really look see my thread (1700 gallon dream tank for examples)

I think its more than plausible. I would suggest a single piece of plexi for the front. I wish I had pics of my new snake viv. Its a single piece bent in half to make a "L" unit. Ill have pics in a couple of days.
Check with local plastics dealers. They can set you up, probably be around $100-$120 or so, that SWAG only for the front.

that would be an awsome tank! love to see the finished product!
