Came across this magnificent piece today, stunningly beautiful. No way to retrieve it. Too heavy to drag, no motorized vehicles allowed on the beach...
This gigantic root wad will forever be special to us. A fellow agate hunter calls it "Old Grandma", which seems to be an appropriate name. In April, we found a little baby napping next the Old Grandma.
We called the marine mammal rescue and were told to leave the baby alone. Apparently, the harbor seal moms leave their babies in a safe place on the beach when they go hunting. This little guy still had remnants of his umbilical cord attached.
