Would you guys think i can use this dresser as a stand? I currently have this in my room and would like to put a 75 gallon on it. What do you guys think?2AFB0C84-562D-4B32-BEA7-0ADDD3A42B60.pngDB6CD2C8-FC21-497D-B8CE-1ED4CFB5D8D8.png

No, I would no recommend using.

I've used dressers as stands for tanks as big as 75 gallons but they were older and more solidly built than this new age stuff that I wouldn't trust with such weight.

I looked up the dresser on IKEA to see how it is constructed. When determining weight bearing capability you need to see if the stresses are transferred directly to the floor. The structure for your dresser might, but then you are placing your faith in the legs that the dresser stands on. My other concern is that this dresser is longer than a 75 and potentially narrower. If centered on the dresser over the center divider you are relying on that one center brace to support over 700lbs and that's just the water weight. Particle board is the go to material for many of the stands now on the market which will support an incredible amount of weight until the become water saturated.

Anything IKEA is gonna be destroyed. The are known not to be durable. The legs alone is a big nope. Humidity ur board will crumble. I just did cat cube system and dropped the plan it was crumbling.... forget ikea. Lol

It sounds as though the only solid wood in that thing is those six skimpy little legs; everything is else is paper, chipboard, etc. None of these materials is a good mix with water. In terms of strength, it might stand up to a full load of socks and underwear...maybe...but a tank that will weigh in excess of 800 pounds? Unlikely.

Why don't you go to IKEA and have four 200-pound guys sit on the floor model? Might put things into perspective and save you some grief.

maybe like a 20g - most id trust on the new furniture-

i got a 75g stand at petsmart for $10 - it’s oak but....

if you want cheap you can do cinder blocks and plywood
