Okay, I understand that the shell of shrimp can help give flowerhorns better color. I bought some fresh shrimp, cut them into pieces with the shell on and fed them to my to flowerhorns. They ate the shrimp but spit out the shells. On dried krill and shrimp the shells are still on them and they eat them with no problem. What would be better? Fresh shrimp with no shell or dried krill/shrimp with the shells on. Also, which can be better for the fish? Fresh no shell shrimp or dried krill/shrimp with shell on that may have been sitting on the shelf for months. Or should I just alternate fresh no shell shrimp and dried shell on krill/shrimp?

Freeze dried krill will have no problem sitting on the shelfs for months or even years so no need to worry about that
