You only have 2 options remove the driftwood and place it under HOT water be it shower, faucet sink etc as the hot water will kill the algae.
I myself find this best method but with large driftwood which is pain to remove from tank its a bad option. My biggest tank driftwood is 2 feet long so its easy enough

or you can scrape off the algae off the driftwood with a hard bristtle toothbrush or any type cleaning brush that has never been used to clean anyting without removing it than do water change -siphon it out -best to shut off filter while doing this as you want to remove the algae .

I would NOT use any algicide and I say that because yrs ago I used a bit and my ph was off and my fish were lethargic and just not right. I did massive water change to get that chemical out of the water.
