sorry if this is the wrong place for this thread..

well anyways.. i bought a medium size piece of driftwood and its floating -__- i have another one a bit bigger and it stays at the bottom just fine.. will it sink in a couple of days or do i need to weight it down with rocks? help please!

it depends on the type of wood. some wood will sink in about a week, some will take a year or more and still might not sink. I had a piece of wood that floated for 8 months, eventually i got tired of trying to keep tied to rocks and just took it outta the tank.
If i was you i would take the floating wood out of the tank. put it in a small barrel to make it easier for your to pin it down with rocks. give it at least a month and see what happens....or you could try to tie it down to rocks on the bottom of your tank with fishing line. This is kind of a pain in the butt though, IMO.

try to see what kind of wood it might be. some will sink right away some will sink after time others will never sink

You can let the wood float around in the tank. However if it was my wood I would just sit a big rock or 2 on top of it to sink it while it is absorbing water. If you can't place a rock on it then you can tie the rock/rocks to the wood with some fishing line. You can also drill and screw a screw into a piece of slate and the wood to weight it down. Also if the wood is small enough to boil then you can you can boil the wood and this will some times help water-log the wood a Little faster.
