Drift wood in a flowerhorn tank.

Hey guys this idea came across my mind if I should put a drift wood in my flowerhorn tank or not. Some people say cichlids like hard water and some day the drift wood would make the water better for the fish. So should I get some drift woods for my flowerhorns?
