so i just bought some malaysian driftwood for my tank, i love the look of this dark wood! whats the best way to prep it? or what all do i have to do before it is tank ready

Honestly all I do with mine is rinse with hot water and put it in the tank. It will stain the water for a while ( stain will not harm the fish). If you dont want stained water then you either need to boil or soak the wood until it no longer leaches tannis. Using carbon also help control the staining.

i had some wood in my tank before... i think it was manzanita, bought it from an aquarium shop, but after about 3 weeks, it got a white fuzz on it and i got a ammonia spike... could that have been due to not treating the wood good well? i jsut dont want to cause any problems in my tank

If its ment for aquarium use i dnt even use hot water... I jus rinse the dust off it and dropp it in and let the royal go to work on it lol

most of the time with Malaysian driftwood, i'll soak it in boiling water for a day. Take off any pieces that are poking out and put it in the tank. For me I like the look of that brownish water. It shouldn't harm your tank in anyway. Hope that helps.
