i've had these driftwood for about a month from a previous owner and he said it doesn't leach no more comes to find out it does leaches still -___- so i soaked it in a cooler for a week drained out the water 2x a day and i added it in to the tank and it leached a little. i do weekly water changes but i dont see any diffrence. my question is when is this going to stop and become crystal clear?

Really depends on the type of wood and what fish you stock. I have several pieces of malaysian and mopani that are over 15 years old that still leech a little.

I also house an L204 (wood eating pleco). As long as I keep that fish, Ill have tannins in the tank

There is not time table.

yea i have the same exact pleco. does effect the tannins?

No matter what I feed mine, it still consumes alot of wood on a nightly basis. Seems to constantly release tannins because a new layer of wood is always being exposed to the water. Purigen works wonders for keeping it clear though

If you're scared of tannins, don't put wood in your tank. I don't really get why people get so worried about their water turning a little brown because they put a piece of wood in there

His L204 is a wood eating pleco. He needs it in there for dietary purposes
