drift wood that i found

ok so i was down at the river today and found a killer piece of drift wood. the only thing is its grey and has a few soft spots like its starting to rot. can i put this in my tank or no? will post a few pics tomorrow

I'd say you boil it so it kills all the bacteria and possible parasites.

this thing is huge so i dont know how i would boil it. maby soak it in the tub in boiling
water?

Soak in warm water and salt. Tear out any pieces that seem to be rotting.

Try as hard as possible to rid out of any parasites. I lost my show fh due to driftwood parasites.

hey,

I have before found driftwood at the river. What have i doing? Cook-water half hot then sit driftwood in cook-water like a hour then washing own fish water.

All fish gonna smell the driftwood

thanks guys for the advise. i have drift wood in my tank that i found i just wanted to know what to do about the rotting parts

like otheres said scrap the rotting parts then either bleach it or boil it if you bleach make sure you really really wash it good before it goes in the tank
