drift wood

I am thinking about buying a peice a drift wood off of another member. They found the wood in a local stream and have had in their tank for several months wtihout any ill effect. Is there anyway to tell if the wood will hold up or do I have to worry about it rotting and falling a part? Thanks

Only way you will know is to get in your hands. Im sure the member would tell you of any really soft spots where it is rotting. If you get it and it does has soft spots just wire brush it until you get to firm/harder wood. I have had to do this to cant live with out pieces.
