boil the wood over and over..

it will take a LONG time. mine took about 2 months and huge weekly water changes before it finally stopped leaking tannins

Seachem Purigen

i have 2 pieces in my 225g since march, i still have yellow water every week when i do tank maintanence...........get used to it

you say it's already been used in an aquarium "for years"? wow, that's a lot of leeching . . . most of my pieces leeched for a few weeks, not years . . .

but yeah, you've heard all the right answers: boil, or carbon/water changes . . . I have used Purigen, but not for tannins . . . wouldn't surprise me if it worked too . . .

keep in mind, tannins do no harm; it's just a matter of how you feel about the color . . . if you keep certain SA cichlids, they actually might prefer it . . .

agree with all the above... tannins are great for SA/CA fish... they love 'em. Their natural habitats are tea-colored tannin-filled waters.

yea i will definitly be doing water changes and try and get some carbon in there. this morning it was almost green not tea color like it was yesterday :((((
