DRIFTWOOD Ash tree, curing, natural look? HELP

HI guys, so i went out behind my building and found a naturally dead ash tree, I cut some branches and I need big help with how to make it look natural???

So it is very long, I need to cut it down, But how do I cut it down but make it look natural??? Cuts? Technics? Impossible??? how long do you advise I should cut it, my tank is 5 feet long. I also have a bunch of branches.

Cut it so its can sit at an angle and use rocks and the branches at the base so they cover the flat bit where you made the saw cut. Maybe attaché some Java fern too to disguise bits that don't look right to you.
You will probably need to soak it a bit first, are you sure it's dead? Still looks a bit fresh and has a lot of bark on it.

Cut it so its can sit at an angle and use rocks and the branches at the base so they cover the flat bit where you made the saw cut. Maybe attaché some Java fern too to disguise bits that don't look right to you.

Thats not all bark, and trust me it died along time ago, as an invasive species killed it, but still why do you think its not dead enough?

Generally you don't want to put "fresh" wood in your aquarium. The bark will rot off, the wood will rot, it will have tons of stuff still left to leach, and it may float for a very long time. If the wood is indeed dead and dried out I would chisel/sand the bark off personally and then should be fine to use. That branch looks fresh to me though, but the pic could be deceiving.

Yea it needs work, But i dont know, if you ask me most of the sticks I brought look like they have decomposed too much, before I waterlog anything, Imma go down to a nearby river and see what I can find eh?

I wouldn't cut it.
Flip it so you can't see the cut. Put the now upward pointing left section against the back top of the glass and the right side at the front of the tank with some stones to hold it in place.

It just looks too fresh to me. Try soaking it for a while and see what happens, I personally wouldn't use it but if it soaks and sinks and doesn't put too much crud into the water then go for it.
If it's dead enough you should be able to remove all the bark easily.
