Hi guys other than water changes over time does anybody know a quick fix for bog wood discolouring water. I am currently useing a uv claryfier in the tank but that doesnt seem to be doing the trick. Any suggestions?

Carbon and water changes. Eventually it will quit producing the tanic acid. It took quite a few months for my African root to stop discoloring my water.

i scrubbed mine really well with a toothbrush and water before putting it in the tank and my water is crystal clear

Yeah i did all the normal leaching it in tubs for 3 days in boiling water and scrubbing it aswell ......I ve heard the carbon thing aswell I might give it a shot.

Pressure washing helps too.

get some carbon....

carbon or purigen will help with the yellow staining. I use carbon and it's obvious when my carbon is exhausted - the water starts going yellow....

it's just tannin, not harmful for the fish. I've heard the fish like tannin, so when my dw leaked I just let it be and not worry about the tea coloured water, I don't mind the colour either.

:iagree: my water is always a golden tea color, if it's not to your liking add a good carbon or purigen

Yeah when i first got my bog wood for my tank the water was a reddish color , frequent water changes and cleaning of the filters after a while the water will become clear and colourless .
