I found some driftwood the other day at the beach and after using the power washer and some sand paper ive tried to get a lighter color. I want an almost white color, but not exactly white if that makes sense. So should i bake it after i boil it to dry it out? if so how long? if not what can i do to get a lighter color of wood?

You're probably going to have to seek out a naturally lighter colored wood. I don't think boiling or baking the wood for any amount of time will lighten it. Plus, it's going to be darker when wet than when dry in most cases anyway.

Ugh, alright well ill have to see what i can do. maybe the darker will look better then i expect.

Sanblast it... A lot of people sandblast manzinita and it smoothes it out/make it lighter in color. The base color of the wood is more than likely lighter as well but sandblasting it could work.

soaking in a bleach solution will remove color...

Flushing with dechlorinator will neutralize any bleach that you fail to rinse off...

I sanded one of the pieces, then boiled it for awhile. I just got it in the tank and i like it. Although ill have to weigh it down i think ill do the same to the other few pieces. Maybe i can get some pics of it.
