My girlfriend wants to get driftwood for my 125 from are local beach, what are my possibility of doing this? I'd plan on boiling and soaking for a few weeks if we did. Ohio area if that matters.

Ice pulled wood from the Ohio river and used it. Pour boiling water over it and soaked it for 5 months in my friends tank and it's been in my tanks for the past year or so.ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1395272421.185793.jpg

Some states (Calif) prohibit removing driftwood, rocks, etc. from areas deemed to be public lands. Just be sure as the fines are far more than the cost of wood.

It could be risky, i would rather find some driftwood at a lake or a freshwater system, getting in from a beach could leech alot of salt into the tank even after a lengthy curing process, could be done but if i were you i wouldn't risk it unless its a freshwater system.
