i was at a new petco close to me the other day and saw some driftwood that was pretty decent looking. no idea what kind of wood or treatments and of course no one there knew. anyone here ever buy drift wood from petco, was it any good?

i have bought driftwood from petco, and it is perfectly good. The problem is that it is sooooooo freakin expensive

I got a planted drift wood from petco it was in their poly tank .
I actually got if for my sen to hide under as I hate fake plant in any setting, but it may have also have jump started my cycle and it won't hurt your water and the one i got did not even alter my water chem even a little, of course in my case it would have been nice to have lowered my pH or hardness a little bit...My tank water is still rock hard with a pH of 7.6.
I also have an Anacharis weed for my fish to hide in.my plants also help my nitrates stay low as I still haven't got portions down with frozen foods and I have managed to read near zero nitrates before a gravel vacume/wc.
The Anacharis even came with snails I have counted three.

petco wood is fine as long as there are no diseased fish in with it. like mentioned above...expensive.

I bought a couple pieces of mopani and malasian driftwood onsale there (6 dollars each) they were not large, just about 6 or 7 inches wide and 10 -12 inches long. I like them very much, sinking the first day and no white fungus. If not on sale or coupons from the weekly flyer then yes expensive.

Ya ebay i got two huge pieces and lots of blue slate rocks shipped for 50.00 You can save on shipping if you bundle everything from one person

i used 2 small pieces from petco while i had a small community tank. seemed to be just fine, as i had a clown pleco that loved the stuff. and some cherry barbs that were wuite nce looking.
