i was wondering what kinda effect the stuff that leachs out of driftwood can have on your fish? i started with 3 pieces of Malaysian driftwood, i let them sit in a bucket of water for 4 days, then i boiled them the best i could, then put them in the tank and attached anubis to them, but they seem to be leaching still, ive doubled my water changes and added lots of carbon but there still a brown tint to my water in this tank, and white foam at the surface.... i know its not from the tank being dirty, tank, and substrate is super clean, cleaned twice a week, and the tank is way overfiltered, its been 2 weeks since the driftwood was put in the tank

any advice is much appreciated, this is my first time using driftwood in one of my tanks

It doesn't harm your fish, but it can lower the pH. Make sure you have an eye on the pH. If it starts falling a lot, add some crushed coral. Don't even touch the chemicals, far to inaccurate and can change it too fast. I had tannins in my 2g and all of my fish survived.

My fish loved it when the driftwood was new and leached tannins. I just stuck a new piece of wood from the local swamp in a tank and the fish are enjoying the bugs.
