So i live in seattle WA and I do NOT want to waste a ton of money on driftwood. So, i was wondering around the beaches here there is a lot of wood dried up sittin on the beach day after day. Before I actually put it in the tank I will get some pics up once i grab a few pieces to give u guys a hint what they look like. But does this sound like a bad idea in the first place? Does driftwood have to be from rivers/streams?

soak and boil it it should be fine. you want as much salt out of it as pssible. you mite also try collecting some from along the green river out around the black dimond area. when i lived on Alki beach i woud hang out at the river in that area .
isnt the green river and black diamond really far away from alki? i was thinkin bout grabbin those white colored driftwood on the beach. or at least a few small pieces
its only abought a 30 minn. ride from there. i had a place next to the light house at the time. wood off the beach should be ok just soak id good with severl water changes like i said you want to git as much salt off/out as you can .
hmmm. i think im just gonna checkout alki a bit first. im pissed off cause i bought some live driftwood from petco back when i was a nub. and honestly that stuff rots so fast. so ima check out the beach and look for some good pieces
