so I bought a large piece of mopani wood a few months ago and ive been soaking it ever since trying to get rid of the white algae before I introduce it to my tank. ive been changing the water every few days and it always looks like the algae is gone, but then a couple days later its back...the water always stinks and I dont know how to cure the piece of white algae

I suggest give more time eventually the white stuff will be gone.

Is it from PetSmart? If so I use that too and I just give it a rinse and toss it in. It floats around for a few days and sinks. I would just rinse yours and toss it in, the algae is probably from being stagnant and will go away in filtered system
