I am visiting my grandparents in Tennessee and found a nice stock pile of driftwood. It is all very durable. (Threw it out of a barn loft and stayed in tact) My question is, how should I go about prepping it before putting it in my tank? Is there any special method I should use? Any help is appreciated.

im guessing leave it soaking in hot water

make sure to remove any bark. be sure that the wood is not pine as this will not do well in your tank and will leech toxins. be sure that the wood is not rotting or freshly green. it needs to be a hardwood, aged a bit and solid. Boil the wood as best you can, or fill the bathtub with boiling water and get the tannins out. soaking the wood in water for a couple days with a weight on top to hold it under will help to waterlog it. this will aid you when you try to place it in your tank. hope this helps
