Hi, has anyone had experience using driftwood as a barrier to protect smaller fish from larger, more aggressive fish? Is this possible? Are there any pointers in doing so?

ya, create a tank divider made of driftwood. lay or stack it however you want to provide openings and caves for the smaller fish that the larger ones won't fit in.

+1 Also, any sort of obstruction (rocks, plants, dw) will provide "protection" just by breaking line of sight.

I stack different size mopani to create caves. How much of a barrier are you trying to create ? Total seperation or hides?

I think total separation would be an pretty interesting tank layout. Kind of similar to a log jam in a creek were the smaller baitfish hide on the other side in the pools created....hmmmmmm
