Far far away land
I have soaked driftwood before and had good results. The question is how long does it take to keep it submerged. It has been soaking two and a half weeks and still pops up and floats. The longest its taken before is like a week or two. How long should I keep soaking this piece for?

Just get waterlogged already!

The longest i've personally waited for it almost 2 months for a piece of driftwood to sink... if your desperate to get it into your tank, you could use a bit of fishing line or something similar to tie a rock or something heavy to the bottom to help it stay down... then you can come back and check on it every few days to a week to see if it stays down on its own...

I my opinion, I would think that depending on the circumstances involved with the piece your trying to have fully submerged, depends on how long it will take to do this. From personal experience, I have taken up to 6 to 8 months for one piece to become fully submerged.

As stated in the post by Fat Homer, about tying a rock onto it to help keep it in place and submerged, it is an excellent way of doing this, mainly do to it's simplicity. I'm sure there are various ways of doing this, you just have to be creative, or improvise a way on how to do it.

One way I have found to be successful is, to use a piece of clear acrylic plexiclass and clear fishing line. I did this because it was the only readily available material I had to work with, and I didn't want more rocks in my tank set up. It's rather a tedious process, but can be extremely effective in a tank. If you would like to know more about it, PM me. I would be glad to explain the process of using this technique.

it depends how big or thick the bog wood is. pictures?

If you use hot tap water then it would probably be water logged in 2 weeks or less. I have some giant pieces which I soaked in hot water daily. In about 7 days it started sinking. I used fishing line to tie it to acrylic divider holder. This help keep the driftwood in place in a barebottom when when the fish attempt to move it.

i have gotten malaysian driftwood and i got lucky with it..just rinsed it and it soaked right away. what i did is put it in the tub to rinse it, with "super" hot water only...i found that it cleansed the wood right away, you could try that...

otherwise..what kind of fish do you have? i'm saying because you can just let it float till it submerges..which i feel the floating wood looks kinda cool. imo..

where did you find or buy it from? maybe its naturally bouyant? try boiling or soaking it in HOT water.
