So I went to my local river and found some driftwood. I came across a amazing looking piece of wood. The outside was nice and firm and the inside seemed great too. I debarked the thing and noticed that some of it was a little soft on the end. Does that mean its rotting? It wasnt like crumbling in my fingertips, but it wasnt hard like the outside.

Some people say its ok as long as you clean it very good, scrape all the crumbly rottin stuff, boil if possible then bake it. I have done it and the only thing is wood always gets this white cotton like alge that grows a lot the first few weeks. I got 2 plecos and they cleaned the wood off perfect. There are also the aquarium police that will say everything is wrong unless its BY THE BOOK.

I have just let the peice I have dry out for a week and then put it right in the tank after picking off the rotten pieces. I have not had a single problem with it either.
