hi guys m devansh , i took a driftwood & rocks collection cum- bird watching tour in okhla bird sanctuary , delhi.
even i never knew about the bird sanctuary till a few weeks back , its about 4 km in length & it has many lakes made by yamuna river . i went there with my friend simran singh khalsa in my car at about 3 pm , though ideal time for bird watching is in morning near 9 am .
there is an entry fee of anout 50 per person & 60 for car.
we started looking for the lakes & as we were not interestedmuch in bird-watching we started searching for drift-wood.
soon we found a single big piece of wood in the bottom of a small lake , i took it out(got wet), its about 2 feet long , its actually a big piece of carpented wood ( like a cricket bat) but as it was sunk i figured out that it must have "become " driftwood.
we searched a lot on many different places but soon returned to same place to find another small branch piece of driftwood. i accidentely took out a whitish piece of wood soon to realise it as a rib of an animal , we also found many big bones of the same.
then we clicked some pics , searched for more driftwood but no luck now so i just collected many pieces of rocks both small & big , returned home.

i have some questions regarding the same. i have 3x1x1.5 feet cichld aqurium
1.firstly i have scrubbed the rocks & placed them in boiling water & will keep them like this for 2-3 days.is this enough to ensure "aquarium safe" ?
2. both the driftwoods are also in boiled - hot water. do i need to remove the bark from the smaller piece also or should i just keep it in boiled water for a week, what should be the whole process of seasoning it?
3.the bigger driftwood is quite big-heavy & ugly i plan to get it cut by carpenter in a smart design i would like to know what to instruct the carpenter & what points to be noted. how much time will it take to season completely ? should i add some chemical in the hot water with it?
currently both of them are in a single bucket & the water has turned light black.
i also bought 3 cichlids for my tank 1 small severum , 1 giraffe cichlid , 1 white cichlid .as they are quite small i dont know how to care about them , i fed them hikari bio gold last night i have not fed till now for the fear of overfeeding,
though they are constantly eating small algae growing on my heater & rocks.plz advice.
