hey guys
i got a nice hunk of malaysian driftwood about 2 months ago
made my water turn all yellow
i took it out and now im soaking it in some hot water
how long should i soak it for?
and what else can i do to make sure i wont have yellow water again?

You probably took most of the color out in the tank. I have had to soak certain pieces of unaged driftwood for a week with daily water changes to get them to an acceptable level of bleeding.

you can boil it for 15 min.

I keep mine in a bucket with boiling water. (multiple changes per day) for about 3-4 days. Once it starts taking a very very long time for any bleeding affect to show it is good to go!!!!

It will eventually stop leaching out into the water. Have patients. Also make sure to soak it in de-chlorinated water

Your fish will actually benefit from the Tannis (what turns the water yellow) and the wood will eventually stop leeching it. Frequent water changes will do the trick.
