I was told to soak the wood in water for around 2 weeks.
But do they float in the water? Should I use aquarium water or is tap water(FULL of chlorine) fine?

Do I need to replace it sometime?

Tap is fine, if it floats weigh it down, yes change the water it will go rotten if left standing like any other water would. If it is small enough you could boil it....

how often should I change the water in the bucket?
and on the last day should I soak with aquarium water? since in my head the wood is gonna suck up the chemicals and release it in my tank..

oh sorry i was asking do i need to replace the wood? or can i use it forever in my tank?

ok thanks!
can i use the wood for a long time?

If you've got plecos they'll slowly gnaw away at the wood. Panaques are notorious for turning driftwood into coffee grinds. Otherwise, the wood will last a REALLY long time.

oh like the royals right!
how long would a 7" wood last with a single baby or adult? like a month?

like a year.

i have a large chunk of driftwood in my pond with rocks holding it down. It has been in there for over 2 months and it still floats alittle

haha that sucks..
how large is "large chunk" though?

i was thinking, you know those big pieces of wood that are on the lake bottoms? if i were to break a part off(7") of it, will it sink or will it float?
