how do i get driftwood to sink i know if its in water for a long time it does but once it drys it floats again is there a way to keep it floating even if it drys???

You have to put it under water and keep it held down with something.
After a while it will become completely water-logged (pun intended) and it will stay down. Or at least thats how the 4 or 5 peices I have in mine have stayed down.

iv seen driftwood that will sink even when its not water loged how do they get it like that?

Mopani wood (african) and Malaysian drift wood will sink as soon as you put it in the tank. Every time.

Wood that doesn't immediately sink is a tough one. Sometimes, you can boil it to help open the pores to take in more water. But it may be too large to boil. Sometimes you can pressure wash it to acheive the same effect. But, often times, only time will cause this wood to sink. I've got a couple of big pieces that have been floating for almost a year. They float against my glass braces at the top of my tank.

You can always screw it to a piece of slate to hold it down (like most of the stuff you buy at the LFS). Cover the screw with a healthy dab of silicone and let it cure 48 hours before putting it in water.
