I found a piece of wood in my backyard today and it is the thick part from a branch but it was cut off to about a 2.5 foot long piece. The diameter of the wood is about 4 inches and it has no more bark. I put it in very very very very hot water and left it there for about an hour and now I am freezing it. Do you think it will be okay to put in water after that??

I think it'll be fine. Does it float yet?

yea it still floats
im waiting for it to sink though so i can put it in place

just to be sure
i would boil it even tho u put hot water on it
boil it for 15 min
even tho a little piece cant make a whole tank turn yellow unless its a small tank

I boiled alot of water on the stove and poured that into a bucket because the wood does not fit in any of the pots I have.

i dont think you can put regular tree branches in the tank.
you realy should boil it to get the tree stuff out, one of my peices still turns the water a little brown after its been in the tank for 3 months.

well I got as close as I could to boiling it by putting boiling water in the tank, also freezing it will kill some bacteria, and maybe ill put it in th oven at like 450 for like 10 minutes just to make sure all the bacteria is dead. I hate how you dont answer my texts by the way. thanks.

I think you have done plenty no need to do more.
I have taken driftwood from lake shore and hot water was MORE than enough some here seem to do all types of drastic things like setting it on fire ,etc lol kidding.

You know what I mean boiling is more than enough . In my case going over 6 months and the nice pieces I have will still float lol .

I had them tied to egg crate in my cichlid pond weighted with rocks second I remove the rocks they float right up .

can drift wood cause foamy water???
