how do i go about puttin the nicea** pieces of drift wood i fund atthe river int my tank ......i dont want to screw up my tank i heard u have to boil them but some are rather big.....
i soaked mine in saltwater (to kill bad stuff) for 8 weeks in an inflatable pond, then rinsed it and soaked it and rinsed it and soaked it for another few weeks till the salt had gone and it was waterlogged. I didnt have any issues with water chemistry or bugs and its been in my dads pond a good few months now!
cool maybe a kiddy pool from walmar in the garage for a while ...lol ....i also heard about bleach water but kinda scares me w the fish .......there was a good strom here in lancaster county and was atthe river found some cool pieces most look waterlogged ten dried in the sun .......thought to myslef hmmm...maybe this can work ...now i just need the best way to get them cleaned up and into the tank thinkin the dovii willlike em ......
oh yeah how far is the ph goin to drop with this in the tank.....dovii says 7.0 to 8.0our tap water here is 8 8.5 which i can go with alil drop but concren withhow far ...these dovii are pretty hardy it seems can they with stand the drop with out have to get ph up
you should be ok imo you could slap that drift wood in the oven on a low temp but watch it wood plus heat = possible firei dont think many organisms can live around 200 degrees and when you get done slap a little hot sauce on it a friend of mine cleaned his that way but then you will have to water log it throw it in a big rubbermaid container with a couple heaters turned up and add salt

that'll be to some degree dictated by the species of tree your wood came from the list here has some common species aqueous pH which should give you some indication if pH is going to be crucial to your set up
