If you do weekly water changes then the brown water will go away in a few weeks depending on how big they are and how much tannins they leach into the water. If you want it to clear up quicker then you can boil the wood a few times with dumping out the water and starting with clean water each time you bring it to boil and it shouldn't take more than maybe 4 times to leach most of the tannins out. Personally I like the tint in the water.
