i purcahase 2 pieces of driftwood 2 weeks ago. i didnt wait and soaked them and just put them in my tank:wall:, now my tank seems a bit brown(water), should i take out the pieces and let them sit in water for awhile? if yes for how long?

It all depends on two things, how often you do a water change and how fast do you want the brown color gone. If you do weekly water changes then the brown water will go away in a few weeks depending on how big they are and how much tannins they leach into the water. If you want it to clear up quicker then you can boil the wood a few times with dumping out the water and starting with clean water each time you bring it to boil and it shouldn't take more than maybe 4 times to leach most of the tannins out. Personally I like the tint in the water.

Just keep up with the water changes, it will clear.

i do weekly water changes, also can you explain more of the boilin? the pieces are about 12-15inches long , would if work if i put the wood if a bucket, boil some water and dump it in there? if yes for how long should the water sit till i dump it out and put more

how many times should i do that for? how long should they sit while being boil also?
i know i ask a lot of quetions just want to make sure i do everything correctly

just boil it. let it cool. change the water and boil again. there is no formula or recipe. just go for it. eventually you will get all of the tannins out of the wood.

Mine is 43" long hard to boil so I just left in the tank it's been 3 to 4 weeks and still does leach.
