They still use untreated Mopani Driftwood (typically) so there shouldn't be a problem. Because it's a reptile decoration and not an aquatic decoration it usually has not been in water prior to purchase, so it will still leech tannins into the water (brownish/yellowish discoloration) but steps can be taken to speed this process, and eventually it will yield clear water.
Are you specifically asking about store bought drift wood, or someone who is selling wood that has been in a reptile enclosure? If it's been used in a reptile enclosure prior, you'll have some serious cleaning (disinfecting) to do.
I personally don't mix any used aquatic and reptillian decorations.
