I am not sure this is the right area or not. i went out and found some driftwood pieces, I found them in the woods i think it is oak. they are really dry, and sun baked! I have soaked them for a day in some water and salt, i have read that you can pour boiling water on them to kill any bacteria (to big to boil). is there anything else I can do to hurry this project. i would really like to get them in the tank.

Thanks

driftwood is usually found in water not the woods. if you got it from the woods i would soak it for longer to get rid of any sap, resin etc at least untill it no longer floats

Driftwood can take years to cure. Maning no more brown water when you put them in your tank. I would walk river beds and lake shorelines for more quality pieces........

All the drift wood here is in salt water and I don't really think I can use it in my freshwater tank.....or can I? I don't live in a place where there are flowing streams or ponds. Most of the lakes here are either polluted, have huge alligators in them, so walking along for a stroll is kinda dangerous....lol, many little "ponds" are man made with no trees around them. Do you think I could put saltwater driftwood in? There is a crap load of it.
