So i found a stump that has been pretty weathered had no smell, i ran it through the dishwasher 5 times and left it on steam dry figured that would kill anything i dont want in there. anyway i decided to stick it in the tank and cross my fingers. i was wondering if it leached bad toxins in the water what should i look for in the fish, its been in there for about 3 weeks fish seem to be ok. but want to know what to look for incase i need to pull it out of the tank.

thanks

If the wood has been in the water 3 weeks it probably sinks on its own by now and has released some of its tannins. If the water is brown it hasn't released all of it but tannins aren't necessarily harmful. If anything toxic was in the wood your fish would be belly up!

it leached tannins in the water already but i use purigen so its clear, it was brown before i used it. just wanted to make sure that it didnt take awile for the toxins to leach into the water. it doesnt sink on its own yet
