So i got some driftwood from the res and have had it soaking for a while. It is now very soft. Does this this meen its rotting and if so how do i stop it from rotting? Also is it ok to put the wood in the tank even if it is rotting?

P.S It's a 3 foot peice of driftwood

Thanks!

don't put that wood in your tank. Did you remove all the bark? if not, take it off and see if it's hard inside...soft or rotting wood is not the way to go.

Also what kind of woods is it? Oak, pine, etc?

no idea on the type of wood. deff not pine tho.

That's definitely good. Pine would leak more tannins in the water and would also be a little softer too so that is why I ask
Off topic but its cool to see another Mx rider on here, and your signature says pbass,
mx and cichla- that's what's up

so i tested the water the driftwood is soaking in and theres no ammonia. Does this meen the wood is not rotting?

scrape the soft stuff off with a knife. I love drift wood I have more drift wood than I have fish it makes everything better.
