Driftwood?

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Malaysian is nice in tanks, and manzanita also looks good.

as long as it doesn't leach any harmful chemical into your tank water it doesn't matter. just down to which look you desires.

I went with Malaysian driftwood. Do I really have to soak it for 1 to 2 weeks before I put them into the tank or just rinse them?

Thanks guys..........

if they are ready to sink then you can just rinse them and clean them well but it will probably turn your water brown with all the tannins in it. you can soak it for a period of time and replace water frequently or can boil it to help remove those tannins, unless you like the black water look.

I usually just take a soft brush and give it a good rinse and brush in the bathtub. I've had some pieces soak for a month and still got brown water. So I pretty much just throw it right in after cleaning it.

Hello,

Driftwood is wood that has been washed onto a shore or beach of a sea or river by the action of winds, tides, waves or man. It is a form of marine debris or tidewrack

Thanks,

i think that is common knowledge o _ O ? lol but yeah, I use driftwood i found at the beach in north carolina, boiled it to kill parasites, use stainless steel nail drilled through a piece of slate into the driftwood, presto instant cool
