Does anyone know if it is OK (I say that meaning that it wont destroy your water) to use driftwood as structure? I could only imagine that after proper treatments of the wood, like: sanitation, soaking, and maybe boiling it that would be fine. i have been seeing very cool looking pieces recently and i would rather gather them for free than pay an arm and a leg for them in store.

i get all my wood at my cottage, and i just soak it and in the tank it goes, i've never had a problem with it, but i think it depends on what kind of wood you find though? no?

boil if you can but I have been told if it has turned gray it is ok also. I took a piece out of a lake recently and boiled it and it is good to go! Manzanita wood is suppose to be good also. Being that your in Santa Cruz I would think you need to stay away from redwood.?
