from the getgo i wanted driftwood in my 75 gal,i heard theres a special type good for plecos what are they and where can i buy/find some.
if anyone has a pic of some please i would like to see it...thanks:)

There is no "special" type, you can use any really, just away from cedar and pine. Also it's only Panaques, Hypostomus Cochlidon and Lasiancistrus species that can retrieve any good nutriants from the wood, but I use it on all my tanks anyway, for many different reasons. However for the wood eating species, the softer types of wood are better.

I take it that commons are not the wood eatting type.

No... although they do seem to go through it, although the amount of nutrition they go through it will be minimal/none. Even my Hypancistrus has a good gnaw on the wood... I leave it in all tanks, they can do what they please then.

I have a piece of driftwood from lake superior (one of Michigans great lakes) and my bushy nose and common are on it 24/7

well i live here in connecticut and i was wondering if there are any poisonos types i should aviod. I know i have to boil it but the size i want wont fit in any size pot,i can soak in water for a while right?

Mopani wood is quite good for a lot of wood eating plecos- when buying wood for wood eating plecos, its good to have a variety of driftwood/bogwood/mopani wood etc. What type of plecos do you have?

they are both commons about 8.5" and 6" eyeballing it
