So I finally got my tank out and drilled it today. I had ordered three of the H2Overflows, two of their siphon stopper returns, and also got their hole drilling kit. See the pictures below for how the drilling and install went:

I had the hose out and let it trickle over the hole cutter as I drilled. The whole process probably took about 2-1/2 hour but I probably could have done it in about an hour less time if I didn't have to keep letting the batteries for my drill charge.

nice job!

Well done. How thick was glass? I got an old corded drill for specifically these types of reasons, you can find em pretty cheap.

Thanks guys. This was my first time drilling glass. The tank was about 5/8" thick.

It chipped a little bit when it was pushing through the other side but the bulkhead gasket was plenty big enough to cover the chipping around the edges. Plus, these holes are towards the top of the tank so they won't see very much pressure compared the the overflows that are installed on the bottoms of tanks.

It's 5/8"? My 210 is 7 x 2 x 2 and it is 1/2". What are the dimensions of your tank?

It's 6'x2'x30"H. It's an old school O'Dell tank and it's a crazy heavy beast. The glass is probably metric and is 15mm, but that's pretty close to 5/8".

Good job man. Cant wait to see the fished product
