Had to share this with someone. This is the first tank I have ever drilled and I'm really happy with how it turned out. I'm a sump guy now!:headbang2

Yup ....AllGlass. And I was a tad nervous doing this. But after seeing all the driling videos I had to try it.
 
Yes the shelling is almost none. I think the key to that is to support the piece from the back as you are cutting through. That way it doesn't drop out and break that last bit that is still attached. I used duct tape and held a piece of plywood underneath against the glass as the bit was breaking through.
 
Yeah, easier than most people think...the worse part is the 2nd guessing if the layout is correct AFTER you start boring the hole :ROFL:
and of course the "fingernails on chalkboard" noise...:WHOA:
What type of overflow box did you use?:popcorn:
 
Good stuff glad it worked out ok for you. I must admit I wouldn't like to do it, but I said that when I cut the liner for the drain in my pond, now I happily do it for anyone of a nervous nature

That 2nd guessing right at the first cut of that spendy liner must have been nerve wracking...;)
