Yes we're back to this. I'm about to start on my sump soon and would like some references. Anybody have pics of their drilled tanks and the plumbing to get water down to the filter or thread links to their build? My tank is drilled way up at the top to be more specific. I'm really just trying to figure out how complicated I need to make it. Thanks in advance

Ok, so I wouldnt need all the u pipes and loops to regulate the syphon or anything like that right? I got fixated on having to build an overflow at one point then I got this tank and don't need it so now my brain wont let it be as simple as it most likely is.

If it is anything like my 60 pictured below, at first I was not running a sump so I used a bulk head and a plug. I am now running a 20g sump so I plumed a 90 on the inside and ran a pipe to my sump and then used a canister filter as a filter and return. When I upgrade Mr. Mbu to his bigger home I am ditching the canister and making a wet dry. For the money I think it is the best way to go.

So your intakes are the two straight black pipes and the return is on the right in the pic? Seems straightforward, and as I assumed, I was making too complicated.
