There's a tank on craigslist that is drilled and doesnt come with the filter, It's a good deal but I'd rather just plug the holes if possible, can this be done and if so how?

What are bulkheads, all I can think of is I know a kayak trick to plug the holes you use foam golf balls and squeeze them in there, do you think this would work with a tank?

Holes in glass tanks can be sealed with similar thickness glass covers and silicone sealer. Holes in acrylic tanks can be sealed with similar thickness acrylic covers and Weld-On bonding agent.
I've sealed holes with round discs to eliminate the risk of injury from fish hitting sharp corners. Always apply the covers on the inside (especially bottom holes) of the tank.

You could go the gluing on plates route, but this would be more difficult to change if you either change your mind or want to resell the tank to someone who might want the holes. With the bulkhead route, you can just get some screw-in caps at a hardware store and plug the bulkheads in an easily-reversible way.

yupp, either install bulkheads with block off's. or silicone glass on both sides of the holes

i, personally went with bulkheads on my 110. i attached a turn stop valve to one of them so that after gravel vacuuming i attach a garden hose to it and let the water drain to the desired level. the above pressure from the water increases drainage dramatically. just make sure to cover the top of the bulkhead aftewards with a small rock or something to keep any aquarium gravel from being kicked into it by fish.
